Volunteers play an important part in the life of Nottingham Mencap. The range of opportunities is considerable and includes helping in the shop, organising recreational activities, driving the minibus and accompanying adults on outings.
Our volunteers tell us that the rewards more than match the effort and we strive to ensure that we provide the training and opportunities to meet the expectations of new volunteers. We are committed to the personal development of our volunteers through appropriate training and supervision.
There are many different ways to get involved:
Work Coach Volunteers
The Work Based Learning Project requires volunteers to work as “work coaches” to support the trainees, on a one to one basis, with their basic skills in literacy and numeracy.
Harpenden House Activity Centre Volunteers
Smile! Stop Hate Crime Volunteers
We are looking for enthusiastic people who would like to help raise money for Nottingham Mencap. You might want to take part in one of our events or organise an event of your own, distribute leaflets where you live, look after of our collection boxes or come to our Fundraising Group. For more information visit our Fundraising page.
Trustees perform a vital role in the governance of the charity on a voluntary basis and skills are needed from every area of life and communities. If you would like more information in becoming a Trustee for Nottingham Mencap please contact Mike Caston on 0115 9209524.
