“…I feel so proud to be able to help the management team deliver their vision.” - Trustee

Become a Treasurer at Nottingham Mencap

“It is amazing to be part of an organisation which cares so much for its staff, service users and volunteers". - Trustee

Nottingham Mencap are looking for a volunteer Treasurer to come and support the financial stability and strategic development of the organisation. We would love to hear from you if you have a financial/ accounting background - qualifications are not essential, but a good understanding of accounts, finances and business is desirable.

Nottingham Mencap has a long and interesting history, but one where supporting people with a learning disability and/ or autism is at the core. It began with the passion of a few parents who wanted more for their children, where it developed into the medium sized charity you see today, supporting approximately 550 children, young people and adults, 7 days a week within our building and in the community.

You will be joining the organisation at an exciting time. We are a healthy, stable charity and are nearing the completion of our new, state-of-the-art building which is situated in the City Centre. This will enable us to continue to run our innovative, person-centred care well into the future.

We are open minded about who we are looking for and understand that a diverse board is a positive one, whether that is gender, age, ethnicity, race, sexuality, or political view. However, as this organisation was developed for people with learning disabilities and autism, it would be a positive if you had some lived experience. That experience may be a family member, friend, colleague, or you may have a learning disability or autism yourself.

The Treasurer will have a lead role in the oversight and scrutiny of the organisation’s finances and be able to offer support and strategic advice on its ongoing finances and budgeting.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer Treasurer and joining our team of Trustees, please email Mike Caston, CEO on mikecaston@n-mencap.org with a covering letter detailing the reasons why you would like to apply and the skills/ experience you have for the role.

For more information, or for an informal conversation, please call us on 01159 209 524 and speak with Mike.
