Could you help make a difference in the lives of people with learning disabilities?
As we look to strengthen the skills and experience on our Board, we are seeking new Trustees to help guide our charity as we continue to support people with learning disabilities to live fulfilling, independent and meaningful lives. Nottingham Mencap is a thriving, successful local charity supporting over 400 young people and adults with learning disabilities in and around Nottingham.
Being a Trustee is a rewarding opportunity to use your skills, experience and passion to help shape the future of our organisation and ensure we deliver the best possible support to those who rely on our services.

You do not need previous Trustee experience. We are committed to supporting new Trustees and value diverse perspectives and lived experience alongside professional expertise.

We are particularly looking for Trustees with experience in:
Finance
We are seeking an individual with financial expertise who can help oversee the charity's financial health, sustainability and governance. Experience in charity finance, accountancy, auditing, financial management or a similar field would be especially valuable. We currently have a Treasurer in post, so we are proactively succession planning to ensure a smooth transition in the next year or so.
Safeguarding
We are looking for someone with knowledge and experience of safeguarding, ideally within learning disabilities, health and social care, education, or related sectors. This Trustee will help ensure we continue to maintain a strong culture of safety, protection and wellbeing.
If you do not have these specific skills, but are interested in being part of a fantastic team of Trustees, we’d still love to hear from you.
Governance & Risk
We are seeking a Trustee with experience of governance, risk management, compliance or organisational assurance. This may have been gained within the charity sector, public sector, healthcare, education, housing or commercial organisations. The successful candidate will help the Board and Chief Executive maintain effective governance arrangements, oversee strategic risks and support a culture of transparency, accountability and continuous improvement.
